Pulses
Omas Industries designs turnkey legume processing plants for handling pulses like chickpeas, lentils, peas, and beans, utilizing high-efficiency pulse processing equipment for the production of premium-quality legume flour.
We offer complete legume processing plants, covering everything from silo loading and cleaning right through to milling and final packaging of the flour or granulated product. Our primary goal is to achieve high-quality products with maximum energy efficiency and complete process automation.
Pulse cleaning: separation, dehulling, and hygiene
The pulse cleaning phase aims to remove impurities, stones, soil residue, and damaged seeds, ensuring a perfectly clean product ready for transformation.
This stage involves separators and grain aspirators for foreign material removal, brushes for surface cleaning, and debranners to remove the outer skin of the pulse when necessary, for example, in the production of dehulled chickpea flour.
Today, these systems incorporate innovations such as closed-loop technologies that reduce dust emissions, ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
Legume milling: from whole grain to flour
Following cleaning and optional dehulling, the milling process transforms the pulses into flours, semi-finished products, or granules intended for food-grade or industrial use. Omas’s dedicated industrial pulse milling equipment, such as the Leonardo Edge roller mill, the Cimabue impact detacher, and the hammer mill, ensures effective processing that can be customized based on the type of legume.
Our Flexy Mill technology allows easy adjustment of the speed, pressure, and direction of the rolls according to the hardness of the pulse. This system allows producers to achieve various particle sizes, ranging from very fine flours to coarse cracked products, with maximum control over product quality.
In parallel, the Omas Multidevice Interface enables simple and intuitive management of the milling parameters through dedicated software with a digital interface. Sensors and automations monitor flow rate, milling level, selected milling settings, and energy consumption in real-time, minimizing human error and optimizing productivity.
Pulse discharge and storage: logistics and control
Omas’s pulse discharge and storage systems guarantee a continuous and secure flow, thanks to an optimized facility layout and systems designed for simplified maintenance.
Pulses are unloaded using automatic weighing scales and transported by customisable and modular screw conveyors and vertical bucket elevators, which are designed to protect against contamination and facilitate quick batch changes.
Finally, the pulses are stored in silos engineered for precise humidity and temperature control.
Packaging: precision and automation for the finished product
Omas automated pulse packaging systems integrate digital control and automation to ensure precision, traceability, and energy savings throughout the entire production line.
We provide integrated systems that include electronic dosers, automatic packaging machines, and legume flour bagging stations capable of handling different product types, from whole pulses to fine flours.
For pulses, packaging often requires barrier materials or protective atmospheres to prevent oxidation and preserve the valuable protein content. Unlike rice, which is packaged as a dry and stable product, pulses may require more stringent freshness controls.
Thanks to these integrated technologies, Omas Industries offers customized, efficient, and cutting-edge pulse processing plants, supporting food companies with every production requirement.
